While writing a test, I put my long thick hair in a ponytail to keep it out of the way. This causes my head to feel heavy and makes my neck stiff and crampy, which is a PAIN during a test. Thursday I have a three our math exam, how do I prevent the neck pain from wearing my hair on my head? Would wearing braids be better?

Just cut them Seriously no matter how you put your hair it will be the same exact thing as its weight won’t change. It’s like pushing your stomach in while you weigh yourself on a weight scale. The scale will show the same pounds no matter how hard you push your belly in or whatever you do. Your hair will always be a problem if you don’t cut them a bit. Well if you are so desperate, which I can easily say, you could test it now that you have free time so as to go prepared. Wear your hair in braids and see if it makes any difference or do the librarian like look

My grandmother has lately been having serious back pain, and we don’t know what to do anymore. She has been to a few doctors, and all they could’ve done was give pain killers which doesn’t help. Just now she was crying about it, and says that it’s her lower back that pains very badly, especially when she walks, and after walks. Her whole body has been going seriously downwards after she fell and splintered her hip bone which she received surgery on a year ago. Please, I need some serious advice that helps!

Most common cause of back pain is piriformis syndrome. I also had the same & used this app to remove pains through exercises. To help you, I’m going to paste these here.

Back problems are responsible for literally millions of lost working days throughout the World. What can you do to avoid becoming a victim of back pain?

Hot and Cold. Oddly enough, both hot and cold treatments are effective for back pain. Which one to use depends on the type and the cause of the pain.

Cold packs are useful for reducing inflammation and are good for relieving back pain in the first two days or so after minor back pain begins. Use an ice pack on the affected area for twenty minutes or so, leaving about 40 minutes between sessions.

Heat treatment is particularly useful for muscular pains in back, shoulder and neck areas. Apply a heat wrap – the wheat-filled ones that can be microwaved are good – or a covered hot water bottle to the area to bring relief. Heat increases blood flow to the affected area, which in turn delivers extra nutrients and oxygen to the injury, speeding recovery.

Become a careful gardener. Due to the bending involved, gardening can often trigger back pain – a reason why many people are wary of doing any garden activity. However, if long sessions are avoided and work done on a ‘little and often’ basis, different sets of muscles are exercised without straining any one group. Changing tasks regularly also helps spread the load.

Swimming and other water activities such as aqua-aerobics are also good for aiding back muscles. The water nullifies some of the effects of gravity, reducing spinal compression and loading. Again, the secret is to build up to greater levels of activity, letting your body become accustomed to the exercise whilst strengthening vital muscle groups.

Take care when reaching and bending. Sudden, unexpected movements are one of the most common causes of back injury – even sudden bending to tie a shoe lace can cause back trouble (take it from one who knows!) as muscle groups become ‘confused’ and act against each other. The results can be excruciating and immediate, so take extra care! Surprisingly, this type of injury can be as easily sustained by young people as by seniors.

Consider supplements and alternative remedies. Glucosamine Sulphate is accepted as being an aid to the rebuilding of cartilage and this includes the tissue supporting spinal discs. Magnetic wristbands are also known to give relief to back pain as well as pain from sprains and bruising.

One for the ladies – don’t wear high heels for long periods. They may make your legs look great but they also tip your pelvis and accentuate your natural spinal curve, which can lead to back and knee problems. Okay for a night out but try to wear lower shoes at other times.

One for the men – find a new home for that bulging wallet other than your hip! Sitting on a fat square of leather stuffed with cards and cash may be good for your credibility put it can play havoc with your sciatic nerve – and sciatica is no joking matter.

Whilst mild back pain caused by muscular strain is usually temporary and easily controlled, other back problems such as slipped discs can be debilitating and chronic, affecting the sufferer to such a degree that mobility is badly impaired. In these situations a mobility aid may well be useful, and a visit to your physician or osteopath is vital.

Another migraine remedy according to the McKinley Health Center, should be to exclude tobacco. This is not too shocking. Stop smoking and improve your quality of life. Period.

Getting enough sleep is important for everyone. If you suffer from migraine headaches you may find getting your eight hours every night reduces the amount or intensity of your headaches. So set your clock and get consistent with your sleeping.

Some headaches also seem to be aggravated by too much sun. Excessive exercise outdoors and lack of hydration can contribute to headaches. Keep eyes shaded and be sure to drink sufficient amount of water when outdoors.

What you may think is a sinus headache may actually be a migraine. A consultation with your specialist may determine if you should switch to a migraine remedy.

According to the NHF, migraine headaches caused by stress should respond to reducing the stress or use of over-the-counter analgesics. However, if headaches materialize almost daily you need to look for ways of dealing with the stress and discuss other options with your doctor.

I found relief from my arthritis pain, naturally, and you can do it too. During my nursing career I was never able to find relief for my arthritis pain until I turned to the field considered natural or alternative medicine.

The first step when looking for solutions to an arthritis pain problem is to understand how arthritis works. As a result of arthritis, the bone beneath the cartilage undergoes changes that lead to bony overgrowth and the tissue that lines the joint can become inflamed, the ligaments can loosen, and the associated muscles can weaken. To get the arthritis pain relief you’re seeking it’s helpful to understand how arthritis works.

The synovial fluid lubricates and provides oxygen and nutrients to the cartilage, which has no blood supply. Cartilage contains chondrocytes, water, proteoglycans and collagen; chondrocytes are the basic cartilage cells and are necessary for balance and function. The joints are designed to provide flexibility, support, stability, and protection.

An inflammatory response causes cytokines, to gather in injured areas and cause inflammation and damage to body tissue and cells; it’s known to play a role in rheumatoid arthritis and other muscle and joint problems associated with autoimmune diseases. It’s generally thought that inflammation plays a minor role in osteoarthritis and is more likely to be a result, not a cause, of arthritis.

Possible causes of arthritis include lesser known: bleeding disorders, like hemophilia, that causes bleeding to occur in the joint; disorders such as avascular necrosis, that block the blood supply closest to the joint; and conditions like hemochromatosis, that causes iron build-up in the joints.

For snacks, choose raw nuts without salt instead of lifeless roasted nuts. Natural treatment for arthritis is usually a better choice because it’s non-invasive to the body. With natural treatments there will be fewer, if any, side effects or adverse reactions.

Gluten may be a culprit in arthritic diseases including fibromyalgia; avoid wheat, barley, rye, spelt, triticale, kamut and oats (although not a gluten grain it gets contaminated at the wheat mills). Nutrition experts say it takes a combination of supplements, that no one supplement can relieve arthritis pain, build cartilage, etc.

Make smoothies with fruit only using a base of two bananas, adding a cup of frozen or fresh blueberries and mango chunks or substitute any other fruit and add an energy boost of two tablespoons of coconut oil; add one or two leaves of kale for another highly nutritional boost — no one will ever know.

Many have told me that going off dairy products and gluten containing foods relieved their arthritis pain entirely. Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question the value of these supplements; it’s clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the foods to work properly.

Make highly nutritious raw applesauce using a food processor and put in 3-4 cored pesticide-free apples, with the skin on, and mix for a minute; so much better for you than canned highly processed applesauce and add 1/4 tsp. cinnamon or two tablespoons of freshly ground flaxseed for another boost. Try massaging your fingers or other affected joints with coconut oil twice a day.

Exercise in a heated pool; it will help reduce the pressure on your joints and the heat will help you loosen those joints. There are a number of exercises which can benefit arthritis sufferers regardless of how much restriction of movement there is. Exercise is good for joints affected by osteoarthritis. Fight arthritis through proper exercise!

Try to keep painful joint areas in motion, even in a limited manner. For arthritic fingers, a good exercise is to put your finger tips together and press hard and release, then repeat several times. Don’t just sit there, keep moving.

If you’re planning to take any of the non-prescription NSAIDS for arthritis, make sure you understand what bad effects they can have on the stomach, liver and/or kidneys and discuss this with your doctor. Once you become more informed about arthritis you’ll be able to plan an arthritis treatment program, natural or conventional or a combination of both. Be aware that the use of NSAIDs or Cox-2 inhibitors do not halt the progress of osteoarthritis and may even hasten the onset.

Once you understand the facts about arthritis, possible causes and treatment approaches you can take, you’ll be on your way to recovery and pain will disappear. More and more doctors are investigating the benefits of alternative therapies and most don’t object to patients trying them. Knowing more about arthritis and how it works will ultimately help contribute to your relief of arthritis pain.
